it’s apparent in the jewelry from AG Ambroult that the designer really enjoys working with metal and transforms it into beautiful and unique necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and rings. i think that’s what makes these pieces so great – the designer, amy, is a true metalsmith who focuses on understanding and appreciating the medium of metal and is in turn able to capture the industrial and organic nature of metal itself in jewelry. please check out her store and read my q&a with the designer:
How did you get started creating jewelry?
I have been an artist all my life, but discovered metals as an adult (took a metals class on a whim) and was hooked on the tactile — and even physical aspects of bending, filing, sanding, and soldering metal into beautiful jewelry.
What three words would you use to describe your current collection?
urban, organic, sleek
What do you think makes your designs different?
My designs reflect industrial and organic forms, showing that this marriage can be both fashionable and artistic.
What do you see in the future for your collection?
I’m thinking color. I am currently brainstorming original ways to incorporate color into my designs. Stay tuned…
Why should people buy jewelry from an independent designer instead of a mass-market store?
When people buy from an independent designer they have the opportunity to feel connected to the artistry and craftsmanship of the piece by being connected to the maker.
