In the sunshine of Puerto Rico

Last week I was in beautiful Puerto Rico for 7 days with my boyfriend.  I saw this morning that Boston has had 71 inches of snow this winter, so it was amazing to be away from it and feel the sunshine of 80 degree weather.  We stayed in a hotel in a beach resort area, Isla Verde, and went on a few other excursians while we were there.

Our hotel was 2 blocks from the beach, had a big pool, and was right in the heart of the restaurant/bar strip.  We drank Medalla, the local beer, and ate dishes with plantains and beans and rice.  Yummy!  One night we went over to Old San Juan and walked around the 135 year old forts and the European looking streets with shops and restaurants.  And on our last full day, we rented a car and drove to El Yunque Rainforest and hiked up to the peak of the 3,000 foot mountain where we were literally in the middle of clouds!

I miss it already!  Here are some pictures from the trip:

I know! There was one afternoon when we were having drinks at a bar along the beach along with other people getting out of work at 2PM. I was so jealous of that lifestyle – imagine being able to enjoy the sun for an afternoon for happy hour during the work week?

Yeah, I went to Costa Rica a couple years ago and it was very similar in Puerto Rico. I did like CR better though!

My husband and I honeymooned in San Juan, PR. We spent 10 days there. This brings back great memories! The food, the forts, the rainforest! We loved it all. Great post! xo.
