What to wear to an interview

Figuring out what to wear to an interview is stressful, especially if you’re a new college grad.  Every industry and office has its own dress code, so it can get tricky.  If you are going for an interview, do as much research as you can to try to figure out what people wear at the office.  Look at pictures on the company website and ask around.  If you’re still not sure, it’s always best to overdress.  Also keep it simple.  Avoid prints or distracting jewelry – you want them to focus on you, not what you’re wearing.  Here are some outfit ideas for what to wear to an interview from corporate to casual:

Jacket, Pencil Skirt, Blouse, Heels

Dress

Blouse, Pants, Heels

Peplum Top, Pants, Heels

What do you think?  Any other advice on what to wear to a job interview?

Away from it all in Costa Rica

You may have noticed I’ve been quiet on this blog and Twitter for the past couple weeks.  That’s because I was in Costa Rica!  Have you ever been?  It’s my second time going with my boyfriend.  A couple years ago we went to Playa Hermosa and Manuel Antonio.

This time we were in Jaco for my friends wedding (she looked so pretty and happy!) and then we went to Santa Teresa.  I highly recommend going to Santa Teresa if you’re up for an adventure to get over there (it took us a couple hour car ride, then boat for an hour, then another hour in  a car) and want to totally relax and disconnect.  It’s a small, relaxed town with a very much untouched beach with big waves for the surfers.  I want to go back already!

What to wear to work: blouse with jeans

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m lucky enough to work in a casual office where wearing jeans is totally acceptable.  It definitely makes getting ready in the morning a lot less stressful!  Yesterday was a rainy day here in Boston so I decided to go casual.  I’ve had the blouse since last year but always wore it untucked.  This day I decided to go a little preppy and tuck it in with a belt.  What do you think?

Blouse – Kimchi Blue from Urban Outfitters

Belt – Don’t remember

Jeans – 7 for all Mankind (get them here)

Shoes – Anne Klein (I realize you can’t see them, but thought I’d mention them anyway)

From runway to office: pleats

I am loving this trend! I’m not sure what it is about it, but I love the feminine and fun texture of pleats.  Prada was also a fan of pleats as seen throughout the spring 2012 runway show.

I love that there are pleats in knee-length skirts, maxi skirts, dresses and tops – a really fun way to bring some fun to your work wardrobe!  Here’s some to get you started (click for details):
