Shoe shopping at DSW

I have said this before, but I hate shoe shopping!  Shoes are expensive, they hurt your feet and they’re not fun to shop for (in my opinion..I know I’m outnumbered). So when I need new shoes, my go-to is DSW because they have a big selection in one place with brand names and reasonable prices. If I need a new pair of shoes, I usually start off by going to the Downtown Crossing DSW to browse around and try some on.  But I have found that I usually end up buying from because they have more to choose from and you can return online purchases to a store.

Last month, I wanted a pair of flat black ankle boots to wear with leggings, etc. I ended up going with these Diba ankle boots that I found on  $55 and my feet haven’t hurt wearing them!

Dorothy Perkins online shop

I started noticing cute, trendy work appropriate clothes from Dorothy Perkins while browsing around online a few months ago.  It’s a UK clothing chain that recently started shipping to the US through their online store.  The prices are very reasonable and the quality of clothes are decent enough.

In one of my online shopping obessions, I decided to try them out and bought a teal peplum top, a maroon 3/4 sleeve dress and a black dress with leopard print trim.  The peplum top is one of my favorite pieces in my closet right now and the maroon dress is a nice fall/winter addition to my wardrobe.  However, I had to return the leopard print dress.  I have found when buying online from UK based stores that body shapes over there must be really thin!  Any dresses or skirts that are meant to be a little bit form fitting turn out too snug for me.  The return process was ok.  I had to log-in online to get a code to add to a pre-paid return sticker.  Even though the return was “free,” I had to pay $13 in customs to send it back to the UK, which was a disappointment.

I would definitly shop at Dorothy Perkins online again..but will be more careful about what I buy to make sure it fits.  Here are some of my favorite items in their online shop now:

maroon jacquard blazer / black glitter bag / tan print dress / lace trimmed shirt / multi-color sweater

Have you bought from Dorothy Perkins yet?  What’d you think?

Easy online shopping for the latest trends at ASOS

ASOS is one of my favorite places to shop.  It’s an online only store based in the UK and they have tons to choose from – from basics to dressy – and are a great place to look for the latest trends for work at affordable prices.  For those who don’t like ordering online, ASOS makes it easier by showing videos of people walking in the clothes so you can get more of a sense for what they look like and returns are easy and free!  I think it’s totally worth the risk of not knowing for sure if the clothes will look good on you because isn’t it fun getting packages delivered to you?

Purple peplum skirt / Red blouse / Brown boots / Jacquard blouse / Red collar dress

Shopping Topshop at Nordstrom for work

Topshop is a fun British clothing brand with only a few stores in the US, so it’s exciting that Nordstrom is now carrying clothes from the brand that are very work appropriate.  The clothes remind me of a modern trendy Mad Men.  Have you shopped the Topshop at Nordstrom line yet?  Here are my favs from what I see online.

Rust colored blazer / Floral printed pants / Green tweed dress / Peter pan collar sleeveless shirt / Lace print peplum top / White with black trim blouse

PS – shop for your guy at Topman at Nordstrom.

Work outfit from the LOFT

So a few months ago was my first time ever going into the LOFT.  I always thought their clothes were too preppy or too old for me.  But I learned that my perceptions were totally off!  The LOFT has tons of cute, trendy, professional clothes and is the perfect place to shop for work clothes!  Here’s one cute outfit all from the LOFT that I’m liking:

Dot print pants / Dark gray top / Pewter ballet flats

Shopping at the Gap for work

I’ll admit, I haven’t shopped at the Gap for years.  I actually took a break from all mall stores for awhile.  I like the search of finding a great deal or a unique piece of clothes so most of my shopping the past few years has been online or at places like TJ Maxx.  But I’ve been slowly starting to get back to the mall stores because they do actually have some cute items and I don’t have to deal with wasting money  buying clothes online that don’t fit.

But anyway..back to the Gap.  I just looked through some of their new fall items online and I’ll have to say I’m pretty impressed!  I really like this cute purple piped blazer for the transition into fall.  It goes well with the Gap 1969 straight jeans and a white boyfriend shirt.  A bonus for the shoes is these Gap black wedges are a less expensive version of Kate Middleton’s Stuart Weitzman’s that she’s been wearing to Olympic events!

What would you pair this blazer with for work?
