eco-friendly wardrobe essentials you didn't think you could find

on tuesday i posted some really cute ethical and sustainable clothing lines. and yesterday i posted an interview with Gaia Conceptions, a line of comfortable eco-friendly clothing in some really great colors. but what about wardrobe essentials besides everyday clothes? are there eco-friendly shoes, bags, and bathing suits? luckily, thanks to some really smart and passionate designers, the answer is yes!

Terra Plana makes shoes out of materials like recycled memory foam and natural latex. i was really pleasantly surprised by the large selection of super cute shoes! Deux FM makes “eco chic” clothes, like stylish bikinis made of recycled linen, organic cotton, and soy. and Pansy Maiden makes colorful bags out of organic cotton twill. so if you’re looking to finish off your wardrobe with eco-friendly items, these collections have you covered!

bonnaroo festival orange style

here’s a fun fact you may not know about me – i love music from independent artists just as much, or may even more than i love fashion and style. any of you who are into music like me know that this weekend was the bonnaroo festival in tennessee, where a ton of amazing musicians perfomed – ben harper, bon iver, mgmt, beastie boys, yeah yeah yeahs, yeasayer, wilco, etc., etc. so i was just looking through pics of the amazing performers and noticed among the female musicians that orange seemed to be the color of the festival. check out these outfits on grace potter, erykah badu, and solange knowles:

i think angelina jolie and i found our favorite summer trend

as you could see here, angelina jolie loves her maxi dresses. and i don’t blame her – they look good on her and there are so many different styles to wear.

since the trend started last summer, i’ve really liked the look on other people, but i didn’t think it was something that could work for me. i thought it was just for tall people. but this past weekend, i tried a free people maxi dress on just to see what it was all about – and i’m in love! i’m average height – 5’6″ish and i think the dress actually makes me look taller, despite wearing flat sandals with them. i think it’s because a lot of the maxi dresses are tight right under your chest, instead of at your hips – so it makes your legs seem extra long! plus they are really comfortable. i recommend trying one on and please let me know how they look on you!

i can’t get enough of the variety of beautiful, colorful jewelry by salt & paper. all of the jewelry is handmade and is inspired by small objects the designer collects. i had a hard time choosing just a few pieces to feature here, so definitely check out the shop for more fun jewelry!
