HBO Girls Hannah clothes

I watch A LOT of reality TV.  It’s kind of embarrasing. There are only a couple regular TV shows that I watch and Girls on HBO is one of them, so I’m super-excited the second season starts in a couple weeks! One part of the show that I like is how different each girl is from each other..yet they’re all friends.  And with their different personalities, comes their varied styles.

Hannah doesn’t seem to spend a whole lot of time or money on her clothes (she can barely keep a job to pay her rent as we know). She probably shops at places like Forever 21, H&M, Urban Outfitters and ModCloth.

What do you think of Hannah’s style?

1 Banana Republic necklace, 2 outfits

I love buying jewelry, but when it comes to adding them to work outfits, I usually don’t get around to it.  I’m not sure why..maybe I just don’t have time to think about how to incorporate them in my morning rush.  But when looking at Claire Danes outfit the other day, I realized how much jewelry can dress up an otherwise plain work outfit.

So, to show another example of that, here are 2 outfits for work with one lace bib Banana Republic necklace.

Left: lace bib Banana Republic necklace / ModCloth black blazer / Fluxus purple tee / Rich & Skinny jeans / All Black flats

Right: lace bib Banana Republic necklace / Alexander Wang draped dress / Stella McCartney black pumps

Get Hayden Panettiere’s casual work look

Hayden Panettiere has a new show coming out in October called Nashville and I think it looks really good!  Have you seen it?  Here’s the Nashville trailer.  Her clothes in the show are very sparkly and not work appropriate since she’s an up and coming country music singer in it.  But in real life Hayden has been seen casual and “just like us!

Gray T dress: ModCloth ($69.99) / Striped cardigan: Mossimo Supply Co. ($18)/ Gold glitter ballet flats: Xhilaration ($99) / Black rimmed glasses: Warby Parker ($95)

1 polka dot ModCloth dress, 2 ways

I like a lot of things about the ModCloth dress below:

  • It’s polka dot – a fun, on-trend subtle print
  • It’s black and white – so it goes with many color combinations and is professional for work
  • It’s sleeveless – a great transition piece for summer to fall when you add a sweater

Because it’s so versatile, there are many ways you can wear this dress!  Here are 2 of them that are work-appropriate.  What would you wear with it?

Polka dot dress: ModCloth

(Left) Flats: Diane von Furstenberg / Bracelet: Max & Chloe / Black cardigan: Mossimo for Target

(Right)  Wedge boots: Toms / Skinny belt: LULU / Gray sleeveless sweater: Dorothy Perkins

Get Emma Stone’s bold color combo look

I love love Emma Stone’s bold mix of colors in this outfit – navy blue, turquoise, olive green and red?  That is not a typical color combination, but it totally works.  Here’s how to get her look, which is perfect for the office:

Striped top: ModCloth / Navy pencil skirt: Mossimo from Target / Red heels: Ivanka Trump / Turquoise beaded necklace: Max & Chloe

PS – I did not realize Ivanka Trump has a shoe line before now!

What to wear with purple

I love purple.  It’s feminine, but not as girly as pink.  And it looks great on any skin complexion or hair color.  What’s fun about purple is that it goes with so many colors too!  You can wear purple and yellow, purple and green and even purple and red.  Like these cute outfits (which can easily work for a summer Friday at work and then happy hour at night!):

Yellow shirt: ModCloth / Striped skirt: ModCloth / Green blouse: ShopRuche.com / Purple bermuda shorts: 3.1 Phillip Lim / Striped dress: ModCloth

What I wore to work last week

Last week was a really weird work week.  Tuesday felt like a Friday, Wednesday felt like a Sunday, then Thursday was my Friday again.  No complaints though with a 3 day work week!  That does mean I only have work outfit to share with you this week though!

Blouse: ModCloth / White capris: Seven Jeans (a Marshalls find!) / Shoes: Anne Klein

Katie Holmes style (for the office)

As much as Katie Holmes annoys me, there are two things I’ll give her credit for:

1) Suri is adorable

2) Katie has a pretty, classic style

Like this outfit for example, which is perfect for work in the springtime:

And here’s how you can get this look for yourself!

White collared top – Ann Taylor

Orange knee length skirt – ModCloth

Brown booties – ModCloth

Black oversized bag – Guess

Would you wear this look to work?

Leighton Meester style (for the office)

I love Leighton Meester’s style.  I don’t really know much about her as an actress since I’ve never watched an episode of the Gossip Girl and can’t name a movie she’s been in, but I love that she takes risks in what she wears out to award shows, out and about, etc.  I totally fell in love with this outfit of hers:

The fruit print dress is so fun for the summer months and the polka dot scarf is the perfect mix of patterns.  Here’s how you can get this outfit, which is really fun for the office, especially on sunny days:

Reese Witherspoon style (for the office)

If you are looking for a celebrity with clean, polished outfits to get inspiration for your work wardrobe, keep track of Reese Witherspoon.  She wears a lot of solid colors in shapes that fit her body perfectly, like this outfit:

I’m personally obsessed with navy and brown combos, so I instantly fell in love with this outfit.   The dress in particular is perfect because it’s a good length for office wear and it accentuates her waist in a very classy way.
