What to wear to work: vintage floral handbag

Here’s Laura again, who works for a non-profit in Toronto looking cute in her springtime outfit for work!  Mustard yellow is a fun, rich color and I love how she balances it out with a beige top with a fun bow.  But her handbag..amazing!  How fun is is that floral print?

Rachel Bilson style (for the office)

Rachel Bilson is one of my style icons.  I adore everything she wears.  I’m not sure what it is – maybe her mix of vintage with trends or her trying new things, like this adorable outfit:

This is a great example of how you can take the neon trend to the office.  Want the look for yourself?  Here you go!

Black blazer – Topshop

Bright pink pants – Hugo from Stylebop

White tee – Gap

Would you go bold and wear this look to work?

What to wear to work: houndstooth

Houndstooth is a print you don’t see much these days, but Laura here reminds me that it is a really great print for a work outfit!  Laura is a Development Officer for a non-profit in Toronto.

From runway to the office: all white

Yesterday’s outfit post was about wearing all black, which works year round.  During the warmer months, you can also incorporate all white outfits into your wardrobe.  This trend was seen multiple times on the 2012 spring runways, like these from the Calvin Klein show:

This is the perfect professional look for the office in the spring/summer!  If all white is too much for you, start by wearing white pants with a colored blouse or a white blazer with jeans or work pants.  (A note on the white pants – try them out with different colors and styles of underwear.  A big no-no if you can see through!) Here are some white pieces to get you started:

What to wear to work: black is the new black

Here’s another outfit from Isabelle from Urban Dai.  She’s a super-stylish Assistant Manager at ZARA in the Philippines, so being on trend is part of her job.  I think this all black outfit is so simply amazing!  It’s very New York and professional for any job. I love how Isabelle brings some pop of color to the outfit with her colorful snakeskin pumps and maroon watch.

What to wear to work: getting creative with colors

Isabelle from Urban Dai is an Assistant Manager at ZARA in the Philippines. Her amazing style led to her being one of the finalists in the Nokia and Elle Search for the Next Style Correspondent!  I really love this colorfully fun outfit that could work for any non-corporate office.  What I love the most is her mix of colors – the chartreuse print blazer and orange/tan skirt. And those gold shoes are so cute!

Chartreuse print blazer – Michael Kors

White blouse – Mango

Orange/tan skirt – Forever 21

Gold oxford shoes – Forever 21 (similar here)

Necklace – H&M

From runway to the office: peplum

What the heck does peplum mean?  I’ll admit – I had to look it up after I kept hearing about it.  A peplum is basically a big ruffle that starts at the waist and should stop right above the hip.  Here are tops with peplums from spring/summer runways:

(Armani)

(Thakoon)

I think peplums are super cute and feminine. I am really excited to try this out.  So excited that I bought these 2 peplum tops today from ASOS!

I can’t wait to get them in the mail later this week and try them on – I hope they look good!

Here are some other cute pieces with a peplum in case you want to try this trend out for the office:

Let me know what you think of this trend!

What to wear to work: transitioning between the seasons

Here’s Catherine again from Not Dressed as Lamb.  The dress code at her UK company where she is a marketing manager is very relaxed, giving Catherine flexibility to get creative in what she wears to work.  The pop of yellow under the cardigan sweater makes this outfit perfect for transitioning between the seasons.  I also love the brown bag!

Kate Middleton style (for the office)

When I was younger, I loved Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years.  She had long brown hair (like me), wore glasses (like me), and played field hockey (like me).  Well last week I discovered that Kate Middleton is my new Winnie Cooper.  I think she’s so pretty, she has the best style and she plays field hockey (while looking gorgeous)!

Before she put on that sweatshirt and sneakers, she wore this:

Such a fun, on trend look wearing bright colored pants while keeping it professional with a navy blazer and scarf.  Here’s how you can get this look:

 Tangerine pants – Hudson

Navy blazer – Forever 21

Colorful scarf – ModCloth (vintage Anne Klein)

Navy pumps – Chinese Laundry

What to wear to work: kelly green mid-calf skirt

Catherine from Not Dressed as Lamb is a marketing manager at a small company in the UK with a relaxed dress code where jeans are allowed.  Catherine likes to dress up every day though, like this cute outfit.  I love the touch of gingham in the collar under the sweater and the colorful green mid-calf skirt!
