one way to make an outfit unique, but still appropriate for work, is to wear vintage clothes to the office. this is not a surprise to most, but many trends that are popular today were also popular 30, 40, 50 years ago. instead of buying the latest trends at the mall, invest in vintage pieces that will make your outfit unique and fashionable.

a taste of paris in boston TONIGHT!

what better way to treat yourself on a hot hot summer day in boston than to attend an event in boston from paris independent jewelry website, ICU in Paris. visit the grand opening of their boston showroom tonight, 7/6, in the SOWA district (450 Harrison Ave, studio #305) for a trunk show of some cool jewelry by indie designer Fiona Paxton, cocktails by Halo, and exclusive videography of parisian street and lifestyle. maybe i will see you there! and if you can’t attend the event, you can browse the rest of the ICU in Paris jewelry selection at their online shop.

i was really glad today to see that the concept of buying from independent clothing and jewelry designers was written about in the reputable WSJ today. the article talks about how the big luxury brand names aren’t as fashionable as they where a couple years ago. people are now looking for authenticity and a connection to what they purchase. please read the article, Crafts, Clothes and Clout and pass on the indie support!

Norwegian Wood now designs amazing clothes!

yay! the clothing menu featured indie designer Norwegian Wood is no longer just an amazing accessories designer, but is now an incredible accessories and clothing designer! Norwegian Wood just launched a spring/summer collection of clothes full of fun prints to complement it’s original jewelry. your wardrobe will not be boring if you add one of these pieces to it!

this month in indie fashion magazine N.E.E.T.

the june issue of N.E.E.T. magazine just came out! here are my 2 favorite parts of this month’s issue:

1) this spread featuring “the summer top 10″ – 10 great pieces that all work together from dress to hat to necklace all from independent designers around the world.

2) this article about Australian shoe designers, tHe Horse. it’s tough finding independent shoe designers, so i was excited to learn about this collection. they also remind me of sienna miller and jude law’s shoes from their recent outing. yes? no?

swedish indie fashion label pairs with the red cross
