It’s summer time!

And that means weeks and weekends are really busy!  Is it like this on the west coast and south also?  In the northeast, summers are always really busy with lots of plans and parties because everyone is excited about the weather finally being nice and we know it’s not going to last.  What happens in areas of the country when it’s nice all the time?

Anyway, earlier this year around the busy holiday season time, I told myself I wouldn’t let this blog stress me out and would only write when I have time.  I still stand by that now..which is why I haven’t written for awhile.  What have I been busy doing?  Watching the Bruins win the Stanley Cup for one!  And cookouts and parties and seeing one of my favorite musicians, Eddie Vedder, perform live – twice!

Last Wednesday was one of the best nights ever.  My bf and I had bought tickets to see Eddie Vedder on his solo tour months ago.  We had tickets to see him play in Providence on Wednesday and then Boston on Thursday.  Well, when the Bruins series went to 7 games and they were playing Wednesday for the Cup, we had to make some decisions.  I tried selling the tickets (along with every other Bruins fan) with no takers.  So my bf said to go for it and try to do both events – and he’s a smart guy because it totally worked out to be one of the best nights ever!  We left work early, went down to Providence and watched the first period at a bar.  Then we went to the show just in time to hear our two favorite songs.  The show was amazing and they gave updates on the stage on the score of the game.  In the last note of the encore, we left the show and ran over to a bar to watch the last 8 minutes of the game to see the Bruins win the Stanley Cup! Awesome!  Here’s a little taste of the night:

what to buy from summer sales

it is getting to be that bittersweet time of the year when fall clothes start creeping into stores and summer clothes go on sale.  if you are someone who likes a deal and wants to get ahead of next summer, summer sales can be a really great opportunity if you buy carefully.

the key is to buy items on sale that are not super-trendy and that will be around next year, like:

denim
bright colors
florals

and not to buy items that are trendy this year and may not be around next summer even if we do love them right now.  some examples are:

maxi dresses
rompers

what else do you think will/won’t be around next summer?

dress + love

this afternoon was my cousin’s wedding shower at a beautiful hall/building at a college campus overlooking the ocean.  she’s the first wedding in our family, so everyone is excited for it and of course happy for her and her soon to be hubbie!

when i came home after the shower, i was sorting through my closet and pulled out the dress i bought a few months ago that i’m going to wear to her wedding.  have you ever bought something that you just love?  you get excited about wearing it and piecing together what shoes and jewelry you’re going to wear with it?  that’s how i feel about this dress.  i just think it is so pretty.  the dress is made by esley, purchased off indie online store, scarfu.  (the dress is sold out now, but maybe they’ll restock if you ask).  i just love the mix of royal blue and turquoise and cream.  and the scalloped bottom in a satiny/silk material.  i can’t wait to wear it!

here’s the dress:

i have a new hobby

my man and i have gotten into hiking lately.  i used to hike with my family when i was a teenager, but i was a stubborn teenager and hated it.  now i appreciate the exercise and views and just being outside while the weather still makes it easy.  we just started picking up this hobby together, hiking in local spots near boston, but we want to go up to the new hampshire mountains for more of a challenge and prettier views.  so, inspired by our hike this weekend, i’ve picked out some nature-inspired clothes and accessories to share:
