I found out about this brand new independent jewelry line, Thru Blu, through a friend from work the other day. The designer, Jennylee, has been working in the fashion industry for big brands for awhile in everything from a personal shopper to a buyer and now a designer of unique jewelry, accessories and clothes. I’m a big fan of the big stones and chains in the jewelry. Check them out for yourself and buy if you like it because each piece is one-of-a-kind!

introducing indie scarf designer Pattern Recognitions
next from the clothing menu boutique to introduce you to is Zohar, the designer for Pattern Recognitions, who makes scarves from her own prints. here’s a little bit from Zohar about herself and the scarves she designs:
How did you get started creating your accessory line?
I am a video artist and I started experimenting with printing video stills from my work on various materials, such as wood and plexiglass and when I printed on fabric I immediately wanted to wear the prints, so this where it all started..
What makes your designs different?
It is wearable art.
there are 2 different scarf designs from Pattern Recognitions in the shop and more to come!

- earrings, rings, and a necklace from a mom of 2 located in the Boston area who is a metalsmith making interesting pieces of jewelry
- jewelry from a Boston designer who makes colorful unique pieces out of stones, gems, wood, and glass beads

how to dress like taylor swift
here are some tips on how to dress like taylor swift. she always has such fun style that is rarely without the bright red lipstick!
be fun – wear bright colors, like yellow and green, which look good with any skin tone/hair color.
be classy – you can’t go wrong with black and white! this polka dot dress with the gathering at the side is an on-trend way to wear these colors, which is perfectly accented by the cute brown oxford shoes.
be sexy – sequins aren’t going anywhere anytime soon! wear a mini-dress with sequin accents for a sexy look.
be romantic – this playful romantic outfit is a perfect way to wear ruffles and layers. give it a little bit of an edge with patterned tights and knee high boots.
do you have any other favorite taylor swift looks?

what to buy from summer sales
it is getting to be that bittersweet time of the year when fall clothes start creeping into stores and summer clothes go on sale. if you are someone who likes a deal and wants to get ahead of next summer, summer sales can be a really great opportunity if you buy carefully.
the key is to buy items on sale that are not super-trendy and that will be around next year, like:
denim
bright colors
florals
and not to buy items that are trendy this year and may not be around next summer even if we do love them right now. some examples are:
maxi dresses
rompers
what else do you think will/won’t be around next summer?
wear vintage clothes to the office
one way to make an outfit unique, but still appropriate for work, is to wear vintage clothes to the office. this is not a surprise to most, but many trends that are popular today were also popular 30, 40, 50 years ago. instead of buying the latest trends at the mall, invest in vintage pieces that will make your outfit unique and fashionable.
here are some pieces from my favorite vintage shops that i think are perfect for the office:
blouses with collar tie from bleubird vintage
colorful and patterned blazers from ramona west
floral dresses and pencil skirts from Girl On A Vine
heart necklaces from Diament Jewelry
